What is carnitine?
Carnitine is an amino acid that is produced by our bodies from the amino acids lysine and methionine, it is also found in small amounts in dairy, red meat, chicken and eggs. In trained individuals carnitine requirements can exceed the amounts that the body is able to synthesise and therefore a dietary source is required.
Why choose Acetyl L Carnitine (ALCAR) powder?
Carnitine is available in four forms; L-Carnitine, Acetyl-L-carnitine (ALCAR), L-Carnitine L-Tartrate (LCLT) and Propionyl-L-Carnitine. We have carefully sourced premium Acetyl L Carnitine (ALCAR) which is the most heavily researched form of carnitine. ALCAR Powder can be mixed into shakes and works out as a cost effective alternative to the popular GoNutrition™ ALCAR tablets.
What are the performance benefits of carnitine?
L-Carnitine is known to be a powerful antioxidant itself, supplementation with carnitine has also been shown to increase the concentration of antioxidant enzymes in the blood (Lee 2014). Supplementation with ALCAR may therefore help to prevent cell damage from the free radicals produced by intense exercise. Furthermore, carnitine is a very popular diet supplement and is frequently used to help support body weight targets. Long term supplementation has been shown to enhance the rate at which the body burns fat and to have a glycogen-sparing effect during endurance exercise (Wall 2011).
As with all our ingredients you can have total confidence in our product quality and supply chain. Our Acetyl L Carnitine (ALCAR) powder is sourced from a leading UK supplier and is subject to our stringent quality checks before entering our production-line and ultimately arriving at your door.
